Ethical Clothing Australia
Sewing and cutting fabric has turned out to be pretty tricky while also trying to take care of
my little Lukas. He’s had a few sleeps in the baby bjorn carrier, soothed by the sound of the
sewing machine, but mostly he’d prefer that I was playing with him instead.
You meet a lot of new interesting people/mums when you are on maternity leave and learn a lot, not only about babies. One person/mum I met is Daisy Gardener who works for Oxfam.
Daisy told me about Ethical Clothing Australia who assists the local textile, clothing and
footwear industry to ensure Australian workers receive fair wages and decent conditions.
It’s not only factory workers in other countries who struggle with their working conditions, Australia too has it’s fair share of underpaid workers.
So I’m now working with a company registered with ECA who are helping to sew
my cushions and Lukas has my undivided attention. Happy baby, happy Mum.
